The Profession

I was in a orthopedics seminar room in Hospital Serdang with about 2 consultant, 10 specialist, 10 houseman, and 3 other colleaque..
The doctors and houseman were doing a differential diagnosis for a female patient that had a fracture in the hip bone.. X-ray examination reveal the right hip bone being displaced downwards and the ilio-pectineal line being pulled out.. Patient history tells us that the patient was riding a motorbike, fell down and being run over by a truck.. The consultant did mention that the buttock of the patient was all torn apart after being dragged along the road..
They debated wether the spoiled and bleeding buttock of the patient was because of the dragged or was it because the patient had suffered from a systemic infection after the incident..
They also debated about how to position the patient during surgery and how to positon the patient during post-operative care..

They all stressed on they point
HOWEVER
It was so beautiful!!
All of them wasn't trying to win
They respected each other, they made way for others to talk
They teach and learned from each other
Finding the best possible diagnosis and solution for the problem
And not to forget they consisted of all different races, Malays, Chinese, and Indians..

Of course I, Anwar, Husnun and Hur didn't say anything
Cause Im sure that not only me, but all of us barely understand a thing they were talking about
With phrases in sort forms, terms and technique we haven't came accross yet
Of course we do ask from doctors and nurses afterwards
But above all that, the understanding of a doctor's professionalisme, recpect and precision was always priceless
Hoping we can be like them in the near future insyaAllah..

Wishing to learn more...

yup2. i do respect the doctors. at least, they debate for the sake of searching for the truth. bukan sbb nak menang. i guess, they have to, as they are dealing with people's lives. not that easy huh. but it can be done insyaAllah. :)

I guess thats something we always tend to overlook.. DEALING WITH LIVES..
Thats way its not really appropriate for us to that studying medicine lightly
we will take their places sometimes..
and if we can't carry our responsibilities as medical students now, then carrying out a doctor's responsibilties will be much much tougher..
So work out our very best..

A good comment Hur ^_^
